Mr Gul did his higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedics on the All Wales Higher Training Programme. He developed his surgical skills as a spinal surgeon at registrar level following which he completed his FRCS (Tr & Orth.) examination. He then undertook his first spinal fellowship at the world renowned Oswestry Spinal unit. Following his CCT in July 2012 he undertook his second spinal fellowship at AO Spine reference centre at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff. The training in Cardiff was under orthopaedic spinal surgeons and neurosurgeons. He gained experience in all aspects of spinal surgery including deformity. This included techniques of micro discectomy and micro decompression in the lumbar spine, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion and posterior neck surgery, anterior approaches to the thoracolumbar spine, scoliosis, lumbosacral injection techniques, minimally invasive spinal surgery like image guided pedicle screws and XLIF.
